this will be my third time with a booth at UCU, and every time it gets better. It's not only the largest indie craft show in Seattle, it's also the very BEST. Professionally organized, well-promoted and the best-attended show I've ever done.
Plus the customers are killer.

Super Awesome Show!

UCU is a great collection of top-notch crafters. The organizers and volunteers are the absolute best. The team is really "on it" with advertising/promotion, drawing a great crowd of thousands.. Savvy customers that are not afraid to spend money on quality crafts. Both the summer and holiday shows are well worth attending or participating in. Do it!

Best show we do!

As vendors this is always the very best show we do each year! The team that organizes the show does an amazing job promoting the event, taking care of it's vendors and doing extra special stuff. Last holiday show they did a raffle for vendors - one vendor got their booth fee back as a prize! The customers are also great - they realy want to support handmade and are super supportive! Lastly we love talking and trading with the other vendors. It is a really nice mix of people who support each other!

The awesome-ness that is Urban Craft Uprising....

brings tears to my eyes. I literally think about this show every day of the year that it isn't going on (and -of course - I think about it during the show too).

Alexa wrote a great blog post about all the craft shows she participated in during the 2010 winter season. This quote is about the Urban Craft Uprising show:

130+ Vendors, 10,000 Attendees, 139 Transactions, $28 Median Sale Amount, Most common price tag $15-$35

This show was by far my most successful of 2010 in terms of gross sales not to mention the lowest in expenses being the hometown fair. It is well organized, carefully juried and Seattle's largest craft fair now in its seventh year. They offer a casual Friday set-up relieving the stress of prepping in a 2-3 hour window of time before doors open and a network of fantastic volunteers whose main job is to aid vendors.

UCU has a growing following with attendance increasing year-over-year and the covetable Swag Bags for the first 100 people each day have shoppers lined-up for hours before the event. I had record-crushing sales at this fair selling nearly 200% of sales of UCU 2009.

Only downside? The time FLIES! The whirlwind show hours are 11-5, the briefest of these four events.

Read the whole blog post and see how Alexa fared at the other shows in the 2010 holiday season.

I went to Urban Craft Uprising when I was living outside Seattle a couple years ago.  While I was there I signed up for their newsletter and so even though I am in Texas now, I still get lots of updates.  It makes me wish I could go back and visit while the show is on!

I went as a shopper and was one of the crazies who stand in line for a free goodie bag.  What a treat that was!  My husband and I got tons of great stuff both in the bags and from the vendors.  I sure wish I was selling my collars when I lived there so I could have participated as a vendor.

UCU is a fantastic show to vend and attend. The UCU team is great about advertising to make sure that the show is well populated with customers and they are really good at picking a good balance of artists of different mediums. I highly recommend this show to artists who want to sell and customers who want to find unique indie goods that for the most part won't break the bank. As a bonus the first 50 or 100 in the doors on both days get Swag Bags filled with goodies from vending artists.
