Sunday Afternoon Housewife Article: Goal Setting Tips
Location
I have a philosophy that there are 3 types of goals: short term (1 day to 1 year), mid-term (1 year to 5 years) and long term (5 years plus). I feel that it is very important to distinguish between the three not only because the amount of time you spend varies, but how you work on each should vary, too.
As an example, when setting mid- or long term goals, you have to take time to focus on the short term goals to back them up. I can say that I would like to be self-employed entirely, but if I just say it, or even write it down, I can’t stop there. It might take me one or two more years before I reach this goal, so I have to take the next steps in figuring out how to reach that goal. That is where short term goals come into play.
