Picnik = sanity
I consider myself a fairly intelligent person, but the non-user-friendlyness of Photoshop for someone not exposed to a class or tutorial is maddening. Not knocking PS, because I'm determined to learn it, but in the meantime, Picnik has saved my sanity. I haven't had experience with the Pro plan, but for basic image altering, including cropping, color levels, special touches, resizing, etc., it is fantastic. My four-year-old brain also just loves the site graphics. Pretty grass and clouds and sky... wheee! For serious, though, it's a great program.
Picnik Review by Blueberry Blonde
What can I say about Picnik? Ever since I first heard of it and saw it in action I was hooked!
Not only is it endless hours of fun of exploring filters and fonts but it really is powerful yet easy to use.
One thing I really like about Picnik that many of the features are free and you don't have to down load the program to run it. You do need good connectivity otherwise it takes forever to load and use...
Another thing I like about Picnik is if you create an account with them you can up load five pictures at a time, otherwise you only can upload one. I did sign up with Picnik but I usually work with one photo at a time, so I don't sign in.
The third thing I like about Picnik is its ability to connect to other programs where you've stored your photos like Flickr & Face Book.
I recommend Picnik to anyone who would like to work with their photos to correct things like temperature, saturation, resizing or if you want to add text, make a collage or overlay neat effects like Holga or infrared, remove red eye, smooth out skin tones. Give Picnik a few trial runs with some of your photos and see how it works for you.
It could mean the difference of using the photos you already have versus going out for a whole new photo shoot. I do one shop review every weekend, on Etsy, and I usually end up recommending Picnik because having good photos are key for shoppers to really see your products.
Oh, and If you really alter a photo in Picnik, to use on your shop, just remember to mention "colors may differ" when you list the item so buyers are not disappointed.
Picnik is Amazing!
I take a lot of photos, and not just on special occasions. Even with a digital camera, it is sometimes nearly impossible to get the perfect picture of something, especially when taking photos of animals in nature.
Using Picnik as my main editing site, I have the ability to edit some photos that I otherwise would most likely delete off of my camera. Picnik offers a wide range of options and has both free and membership options. I love using Picnik!
