Main Street Yarn
Location
Main Street Yarn has recently been purchased by two women from the Seattle area, Elaine Walters and Claudia Davidson. Claudia is a self taught knitter and has been knitting off and on since she was 12. She managed A New Yarn in Seattle, a nonprofit yarn store that helped women in domestic violence situations. She’s been manager at Main Street Yarn since October 2009. She is currently enrolled in a two year course for a master certificate in the Nihon Vogue Level One Certificate Course.Elaine is also a self taught knitter and has been knitting since the age of 8. She has worked for both A New Yarn and Main Street Yarn. Elaine has Bachelor degrees in Biology and Psychology from the University of New Mexico, a Master of Music degree from DePaul University in Chicago, IL and is a Doctoral candidate at the University of Nebraska/Lincoln for bassoon performance. As a freelance musician, she plays, teaches, and repairs bassoons in the Puget Sound area. Since meeting and working together at A New Yarn, we saw first hand the power of women helping women and the therapy of fiber arts. Our goal at Main Street Yarn is to provide excellent customer service in a calm atmosphere while creating a community setting where people can learn, create and enjoy an array of fibers.
