My name is Suzy Fairchild and I am a ladies' dress shop owner in Seattle Wa., wife to a very supportive and understanding hubby, as well as a new mom! I received my degree in fashion design in London and worked there for 7 years before returning home and designing for Nordstrom for a few years. I opened my shop in 2005; I love clothing and fashion and spend a lot of time buying for my shop and for my baby, Sadie. The idea for this line began with needing a hat for Sadie's head, one that covered her ears, shaded her eyes and stayed on her head. Because of our weather here in the Northwest that can go from sunny, windy, rainy to snow all in one day, I was struggling to keep the traditional cap covering her ears. We worked on patterns during play time (before she started crawling!) and I sewed the samples during nap and bed time. It was a lot of trial and error before coming up with the perfect design: a reversible hat with a visor and Velcro fastener that keeps that hat on but breaks away to prevent choking. This hat can also be put on with one hand which is important when you are holding baby with the other! It was a natural choice to use Certified Organic and Environmentally Sustainable materials such as Bamboo, recycled water bottle and vintage fabrics. I want the best for my baby's head. As well as using eco friendly fabrics, our labels are organic cotton and our hang tags are recycled paper. I am excited to see how this line will grow as my baby does. I am planning to add more clothing and accessories as time goes on.
