Happy Delusions

Happy delusions is a retail store for gifts out of the ordinary. Representing independent crafters, jewelers, designers, and artists. Selling everything from handbags to candles, jewelry to ceramics, and clothing to colorful sock monkeys. Our goal here is to showcase unique gift items for people looking for something different. We encourage new thoughts and ideas to help make the shop a better environment for all who come here. About half of the shop is local artists who remind us all of the vibrant community we live in. When anyone comes into the shop our goal is to make them feel warm and welcomed and engaged in knowing that not only are they important to the survival of our shop, but they also can leave with a piece of mind that they are supporting there communities by buying local and product made in the USA.Because most of our artists live within a couple hours of the shop we are able to provide our customers with a higher level of customer service. If anything should happen with a handmade item, the customer was the ability to come in and have the artist repair it for them. Community is a big part of what makes happy delusions such a success. We believe that the more committed we are to our community the more successful all of us become. Not only do we represent work from people living in our community but we also make an effort to remind people to shop local and support each other by sponsoring different shows throughout Renton. Happy delusions helps the community to thrive by being an active member of our local Chamber of Commerce. Specifically I work helping plan and put on events through our downtown area as the co-chair of the downtown events committee. Our biggest event to date is helping plan and coordinate the artists at Renton River Days, Renton's big summer festival. Recently we were honored with the title of "Best gift shop in Western Washington" for 2008, by King 5's "Evening Magazine". I believe this to be the best award because it is decided on by the people. We have also become a hub of information around town. I have people coming in everyday to find out what's going on in the community as far as events. We even started selling the "I heart Renton" buttons, and t-shirts to help everyone show there support for our town. Happy delusions stands out from other like businesses because we provide a space for anyone to try and sell what they have. We encourage others in the community to get creative, instead of seeking out already established artists.
