Handmadeology Article: How to back-up and restore your Blogger blog in 3 easy steps
Location
Blogger was recently down for 2 whole days (working on the expected redesign), and the Etsy forums were bursting with blogger talk – Why? How long? What if? Yes, what if it all disappears suddenly?
There are lost posts and comments on a multitude of blogs including mine, from Blogger to assure us that they are working on restoring everything. I don’t believe anything more serious will ever happen to Blogger but just in case, and for your own safety you should regularly back-up the contents and the template of your blog. Depending on how often you update your blog, you can back-up weekly, monthly, or whenever you please. In fact, I do save the template every time before I edit the HTML template in case I mess things up.
Backing-up your blogger blog is actually saving 2 files on your computer (one with the content and one with the template) – a process that takes no more than 5 minutes. I suggest you open a folder on you computer to store the downloaded files by date. In this way whatever happens to your blog you can always restore it.
