HandmadeMarket.com is a virtual craft market, allowing shoppers to browse craft stores from all over the world, in 3D.
HandmadeMarket.com takes the traditional way of browsing craft items (the craft market) and today's way of browsing craft items (online marketplaces such as Etsy and ArtFire) and mixes the two together to create a more 'real-life' experience to browsing craft items online.

Adorable but buggy.
Well, they can't win. Apple is dumping Flash, and IE8 doesn't support HTML5 Canvas. Not that you could do this with Canvas yet, but many folks think it's the animation platform of the future.
Technicalities aside, the 3D mall was a bit of a craze about 10 years ago, but has thus far proved unintuitive. I think the problem is that shopping is passive. To engross users in this type of interface, you had better give them objectives and opportunities for creativity. That's easy with a game, but how does one bridge the gap to reality?
It's a really interesting dilemma that I hope Handmade Market will tackle rather than settling for askew photos that don't reliably bring up their links.
To end on a bright note: They totally get props for the design and graphics. It's beautiful.
