Dotted Line Jewelry on Unanimous Craft

About Annie Huntley and Dotted Line Jewels When asked where I got the inspiration for creating Dotted Line, the best answer I have is that it's just in the blood. My mother was always a lover of antiques, a collector of chachkes and most of all a woman who loved to spend time creating. She taught me how to make lace and knit at a young age, fostering an early appreciation for tasks requiring such patience and detail. As an entrepreneur and pilot, my dad was often traveling and instilled in me an appreciation and insatiable curiosity for other cultures and languages. In 1999 I moved to Tel Aviv, Israel, to study language, history and religion. Inspired by the artistry and vibrance of the city, I felt a deep desire to create. I began working with materials I found locally, designing necklaces that combined macramé with large pieces of amber, turquoise, amethyst, and carnelian. Although my line is ever evolving, it remains true to the rich colors and bold forms of the local jewelry that initially inspired me.Today, Dotted Line Jewels, based in Seattle, reflects a mixture of global influences, the designs include delicate wire wrapping and hammered metal design, semi-precious stones, medallions and other lost treasures from Europe and the Middle East. From Bordeaux to Jerusalem, I spend hours scavenging markets and antique shops in search of one-of-a-kind pendants and stones that tell a story. I have a particular fondness for incorporating religious icons into my jewelry design – coins depicting the the Virgin Mary and antique Stars of David are among my favorites. I see Dotted Line as a fusion of creativity, curiosity and adventure. It enables me to find a balance between two distinct voices that call simultaneously – one that desires to seek solitude and refuge in my artistic endeavors, the other that calls to head out on an extended trip in search of new materials and inspiration.
