Day-Lab on Unanimous Craft

Day-lab was launched in February 2005 by me, Amy Shutt. I run day-lab out of the beautiful University Lakes area in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where I share space with my daughter and several cats. I also maintain the day-lab blog here: day-lab Blog. When I'm not working on day-lab my energy is usually being thrown into one of the three things I most enjoy: working in the garden, birdwatching, and photography. When I started day-lab I had just turned 30 and was in my last year of college pursuing a degree in Philosophy (concentration: Theory and History of Religion) with minors in Art History and Photography. It just happened to explode into a full time business that keeps me very busy since I have graduated. Like the major and minors of my degree, day-lab is also a reflection of my overlapping interests that never cease to evolve or change direction. day-lab specializes in fun and affordable vintage dead stock jewelry and accessories produced from the 1930s through the 1980s, as well as independently designed and handmade jewelry, accessories, housewares, and gift items. Many of these items are unique in that they are inherently limited in availability or one-of-a-kind. I make it a point daily to be in constant search of both vintage and new, always interesting, fun and affordable products that can not be found in every gift store. I very much hope these efforts lend to the eclectic and uncommon atmosphere of day-lab. *Each month a percentage of day-lab's profits is donated to the Humane Society.
