The Confessions of a Craftaholic

What about me?
I’m on a quest for Nirvana through creativity. Every day, I take a quote from the Dalai Lama, and blog about it. And every day I do something crafty and creative. I chose to do this, because I wanted to challenge myself. Since my start, 200 days ago, I have grown spiritually, and creatively. I started this quest also because I wanted to see if art and creativity could blend. I found out that they could, and it has become my mission to spread my findings with the world.
I want to teach the world what it is to be creative. We are all creative creatures. We all have it in ourselves to be as great, if not greater, than Frida Khalo, Che Guevara, or Diego Rivera. We may not agree with their choices in life, but we can admire their drive. We can admire the fact that we all still talk about them. And each of us have a piece of them within us.
My mission in life, is to teach you how to find them. That’s what you learn at my workshops. That’s what I teach. I don’t just teach you how to make a cool recycled book, or how to revamp your clothing. It’s about unlocking who you are creatively.
I’m a mixed media artist, with a specialty in altered art book work and shrine boxes. I describe my style as “Vintage City Grunge”, and take my creative inspiration from the artist Jean Michel Basquiat, The Buddha, and from my collections of vintage paraphernalia, including records, perfume bottles and vintage cookbooks.
I’m a writer and poet as well, so sometimes you’ll see my poems here. Since 2007 I’ve been blogging, writing, creating, making, inspiring and loving life under the alias “The Craftaholic”.
I have an etsy shop, called Sweet Buddha Designs, and teach art and craft classes throughout New York City. Teaching creative arts classes is my calling, and I am always looking to expand.
Currently I design for DMC Threads.
