Spanish Village Art Center in San Diego
I remember the first time I visited Spanish Village at Balboa Park. It was literally crafter’s heaven, and my husband had to beg me to leave after hours of going studio to studio. If you are at all into art or crafts of any nature and you haven’t been to Spanish Village you are missing out!
Spanish Village is nestled right in Balboa Park, near the zoo entrance, and features adorable studios that are brimming with talented artists. Most of the studios are run by juried Guilds, such as the Art Glass Guild and the Enamel Guild, and there are also some co-op studios run by small groups of artists. In addition to the studios, there are also patio artists who set up for the day and showcase their wares. You can find everything from hand dyed silks to jewelry, to wood-worked masterpieces.
One of the best things about Spanish Village is that a lot of the studios also offer classes and lessons. I myself have taken a Lampworking class at the Art Glass Guild and had an amazing time learning about this very unique (and not to mention difficult!!) art form. Spanish Village is open daily from 11am-4pm. Please check out the official website at: http://www.spanishvillageart.com/ to get more info!
