Renegade LA - Summer 2011
We've been on the road for a couple of weeks or so. Maybe just a week. Who knows. It seems like it was a lifetime.
We left Seattle and drove to Las Vegas to visit a friend. Then, we headed to LA for RENEGADE (It's in caps because I was that excited).
Here's a shot of Washington - after leaving the city.

And here's an extra special surprise we found in the middle of the road in Oregon. Yes. That's a bull. And I'm not sure if you can see it clearly in the picture, but someone has a red rocket out. I was hanging out the window taking pictures and scared out of my mind. All at the same time. I think I lost five pounds. And by that I mean, "I WISH I could lose five pounds."

Shower Art made it's appearance at Renegade LA. We thought we were going to fly so we just got 1/2 a booth and shared with the lovely Alexa from Foamy Wader. She makes fantastic jewelry and knitted beards.

The Shower Art end cap. Oh yeah, baby.

Here's Alexa from Foamy Wader trying to deal with the swarms who were buying up all of her lovely jewelry.

The Renegade tent. They're not just a series of huge and beloved craft shows in six cities and two countries - they are also a brick n' mortar shop in Chicago, IL.

The show took place in the Los Angeles State Historic Park. It was outdoors (thought I'd spell it out for you in case you don't know what a park is...) and the weather was lovely. A bit hot for my taste, but I'm from the cold and rainy Northwest and I love it.... 70 degrees is pretty much too hot for me.

The crowd came out for the show even though the mayor told everyone to stay home because of the dumbly named: Carmageddon. One of the main highways was closed and people were worried that the city would crawl to a stand-still. It didn't. Everything was fine. No problem.

We chose to have our booth in the huge, shared tent in the middle of the show. It was nice and cool in there compared to the booths outside. It was a little dark - but it didn't seem to affect sales. I think people looked longer at the booths in this area because the temperature was at least 10 degrees cooler. I have no scientific evidence to support this...

I ran into one of our lovely Premium Members of Unanimous Craft: Jenny Hart from Sublime Stitching - pictured here with her mom. Awwwwhhhhhh.....
Could she be any nicer?

And this is Kelso from Kelso Doesn't Dance. I met Miss Kelso at CHA last summer and liked her immediately because I don't dance either. I ran across her booth while I was wandering around trying not to buy things. I was mostly unsuccessful.

And the saddest part of the show: SEIBEI's van was stolen with all of their merchandise inside. Nooooooooooo!
I read on their blog that the van was recovered but was pretty much stripped of anything that could have been worth money. A Kickstarter campaign sounds like it might be coming up in the future so let's all keep an eye out and help a fellow crafter artist get back on her feet. I'll post news as I hear about it.

To wrap up this visual tour of Renegade, let me say it's a huge show with lots of vendors but they really bring out the people. We met our financial goal, had a great time and bought some socks that look like pencils.
Have you done Renegade before? Ever had your care stolen? Leave a comment and share your story.
Rock.
